Hello, A very gracious "WELCOME!"
to our new Website... and, in this style, then, to our City of
Farrell, Pennsylvania.
Farrell
is a 106-year old community in southwestern Mercer County, positioned
along the Pennsylvania/Ohio border. It was formed around the
beginnings of the full scale steel industry and its citizens – many
of whom worked at Sharon Steel – helped the company become one of
the leading producers of steel in the world. All along the peaks,
valleys, and river beds of western Pennsylvania, the complete
manufacture of steel was the spur to the birth, growth and
stabilization of municipalities at the beginning of the Twentieth
Century. The City of Farrell is surely—and proud to be—one of that
number. While the steel industry has experienced some faded glory in
the past several decades, Farrell remains focused on building a
strong, bright future through coordinated community and economic
development initiatives.
Your
awareness of that history through to current times is a way in which
we can portray that Farrell is a REVITALIZING municipality. Our
city officials and administration are working vigorously and very
cooperatively with its residents, businesses, and adjacent
municipalities to maintain and improve upon the day-to-day necessities
that are expected of local government.
We are a full
service-to-our-residents community. If you are a Farrellite, PLEASE,
do not hesitate to use these pages of information as a starting point
for us to be at your service! If you are passing through on the
Internet - PLEASE communicate with us as an individual, a
family, or as a business. Together we can forge a bright future for
Farrell.
Sincerely,
Olive M.
